DIY - The Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) of Kulon Progo Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY), cooperates with local religious leaders for the sake of holding the 2024 General Election with integrity.

The head of the Kulon Progo Regency Bawaslu, Ria Harlinawati, said that the religious leaders are members of the Religious Harmony Forum (FKUB) which has a strategic role to convey clean and honest democratic practices.

"Religious leaders are community leaders whose voices are usually heard by the public. The Kulon Progo Bawaslu is grateful to the Kulon Progo FKUB for helping to create elections with integrity," said Ria Harlinawati in Kulon Progo, Thursday 19 May.

For this reason, he hopes that later religious leaders will also provide correct understandings regarding election monitoring.

"In this way, violations in the 2024 General Election, especially in Kulon Progo Regency, will be reduced," Ria said quoting Antara.

The Kulon Progo Regency Bawaslu cooperates with the local FKUB as stated in the commitment to cooperation between the two institutions in a joint memorandum of understanding.

One of the points within the scope of the MoU is outreach to religious leaders and religious community organizations regarding participatory election monitoring.

"Hopefully, religious leaders will be able to participate in socializing election supervision to the public," said Ria.

Meanwhile, the Chairperson of the Kulon Progo Regency FKUB Agung Mabruri Asrori said that FKUB would try to participate in creating a conducive and peaceful election atmosphere.

At the time of the implementation of the election, various issues often arise that can create warm conditions in society, one of which is related to problems with religious backgrounds.

"Therefore, we will try to create conducive community conditions to support the implementation of elections that are clean, fair and with integrity," he said.
