Banten Police Chief Firmly, Asks The Police Chief To Take Lively FMD Disease Problems

SERANG - Following up on the National Police Chief's Telegram Letter Number 395 dated May 11, 2022 regarding Emergency Directions for Handling Mouth and Nail Diseases (PMK) for Livestock, the Banten Police has coordinated with the Banten Province Livestock Service to prevent the entry of ruminant animals from FMD outbreak areas into the Banten area.

Banten Regional Police Chief Inspector General of Police Prof. Dr. Rudy Heriyanto has also instructed the police chiefs in the Banten area to immediately collect data and carry out direct checks on farms with related agencies.

"The KBR unit of the Gegana Detachment of the Banten Police Satbrimob carried out decontamination on two farms in Serang City, by spraying disinfectants at the location," said Rudy Heriyanto in a written statement, Thursday, May 19.

In accordance with their duties, the Bhabinkamtibmas have also received directions from the Banten Police Chief through the Banten Police Dirbinmas Kombes Pol. Sofwan Hermanto to go down with livestock extension workers to provide education to the public that FMD is not contagious to humans.

For livestock contaminated with PMK, Rudy has emphasized to Bhabinkamtibmas to work together with the relevant agencies to exterminate so that the spread of PMK can be localized.

"At abattoirs, the main officials of the Banten Regional Police and the Heads of Police in the ranks have been ordered to go down with the Livestock Service and other related parties to ensure that the livestock to be slaughtered have passed clinical trials by veterinarians. This includes checking with the task force at the post. - integrated post with related agencies to oversee the transportation of livestock that will transit to and from the outbreak area," said Rudy Heriyanto.

The final step, said Rudy, if needed as an ultimum remedium, is to enforce the law if there is a violation in the implementation of controlling and overcoming the FMD outbreak in Banten.

The emergency of FMD outbreak in livestock and its control is stated in the Minister of Agriculture's Decree No. 403 and 404 dated May 11, 2022 with the area where the source of the outbreak was, namely Aceh Tamiang, East Aceh, Gresik, Sidoarjo, Mojokerto, Lamongan.
