CENTRAL JAVA - Central Java (Central Java) Governor Ganjar Pranowo asked the public to be vigilant in responding to the increasingly lax rules for wearing masks in the midst of the pandemic transition to endemic.

Ganjar reminded the public to be aware of the condition of their bodies and the location of their activities as a form of self-alarm using masks.

"With our experience of almost three years, we are self-aware. When then do we have to protect ourselves so that once again in the open, then the second one when we are a bit unwell, we immediately wear masks so that we can protect," said Ganjar at Semarang, Wednesday 18 May.

The number one person in Central Java still emphasizes the public to see the situation and conditions, for example when doing outdoor activities and there are crowds of people.

"But still, if you're in a crowd outside, the distance is too short, I suggest wearing a mask. If the crowd isn't large, I don't think it's okay to wear a mask," said the former member of the DPR.

Ganjar agreed with the statements of several experts who stated that wearing a mask not only protects oneself from COVID-19, but also other diseases such as acute hepatitis which has recently emerged and infects children.

"There are also children who have the potential to be exposed to acute hepatitis. That can also be conveyed, but so far there has been no explanation from the health authorities that conveys how the transmission model and so on. For children, you have to be careful," he said.

As is known, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has announced a policy of easing the rules for wearing masks for outdoor activities, Tuesday 17 May. People are now not required to wear masks when doing outdoor activities.

However, there are still certain conditions that require someone to wear a mask, including when doing activities indoors or in closed rooms and public transportation.

Vulnerable groups such as the elderly and people with comorbidities are advised to continue to wear masks when doing activities, as well as for someone with symptoms such as cough and runny nose.
