A Boarding House Occupant At Mangga Besar Becomes A Victim Of Sexual Abuse By A 50-year-old Man On The 3rd Floor Stairs

JAKARTA - The West Jakarta Metro Police Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) arrested a middle-aged man with the initials D alias Boby (50) for lewd acts against a girl with special needs, who is still a minor.

The victim with the initials SR (14) has Down syndrome or has special needs. The victim was molested by the perpetrator who was a boarding house neighbor who lived in the Mangga Besar area, Tamansari, West Jakarta.

West Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Pasma Royce said the incident of sexual abuse experienced by SR occurred on May 14. The incident began when the victim was sitting on the stairs on the 3rd floor and the perpetrator was going up to the 4th floor of his boarding house.

"It was the same when they wanted to go up because they were prevented from asking the victim to step aside (but) the victim didn't want to. In the end, the perpetrator picked up the victim and committed an obscene act," Kombes Pasma Royce told reporters, Wednesday, May 18.

The police chief explained that the perpetrator and the victim both lived in the same boarding house in the Mangga Besar area.

Then the victim's parents reported the actions of the perpetrator's initial D to the West Jakarta Metro Police.

"The perpetrator was finally arrested by members of the Criminal Investigation Department. The perpetrator was charged with Article 76 e junto 82 of the Republic of Indonesia Law No. 17 of 2016 concerning child protection," he said.

Meanwhile, regarding the handling of victims of sexual abuse, the West Jakarta Metro Police will coordinate with P2TP2A regarding child psychology.

"Coordination with P2TP2A to provide trauma healing for the victim's mental condition," said the Police Chief.
