Denny Siregar Often Disbelieves Other Religions: Traces Of UAS Radicalism Recorded In Singapore

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) in Singapore revealed the reason why Ustaz Abdul Somad alias UAS was refused entry to Singapore. UAS is considered to adhere to extremist teachings.

"Somad is known to propagate extremist teachings and segregation, which is unacceptable in Singapore's multi-racial and multi-religious society," the Ministry of Home Affairs said in a statement on its website, quoted Thursday 18 May.

The Ministry of Home Affairs in Singapore also said that UAS often made public statements that openly demeaned adherents of other religions. Singapore noted that UAS had commented on non-Muslims as infidels

"Just as Somad delivered a sermon that suicide bombings were legal in the context of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and considered a martyrdom operation. He [UAS] also made derogatory comments about adherents of other religions such as Christianity, by describing the Christian cross as the abode of the genie infidel. , Somad openly refers to non-Muslims as infidels," the statement continued.

Social media activist Denny Siregar responded to the reason why UAS was refused entry to Singapore. Denny thought it was natural for this to happen.

"Singapore is indeed very strict with religious radicals. Even there it is reported that, it is enough with their terrorism law, talking about religion in the form of violence has been arrested," said Denny on his Twitter account, @Dennysiregar7.

Denny said Singapore is inhabited by multiethnic and multireligious people. Preventing potential conflicts and tensions among its citizens, the Singaporean Government has strict rules against those who often give statements approving or justifying violence.

"So, if Somad is refused entry to Singapore, it means they are recording a trace of radicalism in that person," he said.
