BADUNG - The Bali Provincial Government is targeting all government-owned and private hospitals in the local province to be accredited by 2022-2023 and most of them can pass the plenary session.
"Bali currently has 72 hospitals, of which 65 hospitals (90.3 percent) are accredited," said Deputy Governor of Bali Tjokorda Oka Artha Ardhana Sukawati in Kuta, Badung Regency, as reported by Antara, Tuesday, May 17.
When the Deputy Governor officially opened the Kick Off and Launching of Hospital Accreditation Standards, he said that as many as 20 of the 65 accredited hospitals were fully accredited/five-star.
Meanwhile, there are seven hospitals that have not been accredited because they are new hospitals whose accreditation has been hindered due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Deputy Governor, who is usually called Cok Ace, said that the Bali Provincial Government in 2020 has a target that all existing hospitals must be standardized or accredited.
"However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the entire accreditation process from mid-2020 until now has been postponed by the Ministry of Health as an effort to focus on the health sector in handling the pandemic," he said.
Cok Ace added that currently and in the future the challenges of health services are increasing along with the development of science and technology as well as the community's need for increasingly quality health services.
Moreover, Bali, which is a world tourist destination, requires international standard health services.
"To realize it is certainly not easy because it requires the support of facilities, infrastructure, medical equipment and also qualified human resources. All of this must be prepared and fulfilled as soon as possible so that the quality of our services is getting better," said Cok Ace.
Meanwhile, the Chairperson of the Committee, Dr. Made Koen Virawan, conveyed the Hospital Accreditation Standard Guidelines comprehensively to hospital administrators according to the law. No.44/2009 concerning Hospitals and the Trusteeship of PP.No.47/2021 concerning Hospital Operations.
This is to realize an increase in the quality of hospital services and patient safety so that hospital governance and good clinical governance are achieved, as well as the implementation of national health development programs.
"It is necessary to carry out accreditation in accordance with Hospital Accreditation Standards and efforts to create a safe, effective and well-managed hospital organization," he said.
Hospital accreditation standards are divided into 16 chapters and are grouped into four sections, namely the Hospital Management Group, the Patient-Focused Service Group, the Patient Safety Target Group, and the National Program Group.
