MATARAM - The Mataram City Health Office (Dinkes) in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Province asked residents to adopt a clean and healthy lifestyle (PHBS) to prevent the transmission of acute hepatitis, which is mostly found in children.

"The exact cause of acute hepatitis is not known for sure. But transmission is suspected through mouth and feces, so the implementation of PHBS is very important," said Head of the Mataram City Health Office, Usman Hadiz, Tuesday, May 17.

He said that cases of acute hepatitis transmission, whose cause was unknown, had not yet been found in Mataram City.

"Alhamdulillah, cases of acute hepatitis in Mataram City have not been found to this day," he said.

Nevertheless, Usman asked residents to apply PHBS and health protocols to avoid transmission of the disease-causing virus.

He also stressed the importance of the role of parents in monitoring the health condition of their children and immediately taking children to a health facility if they experience symptoms of health problems.

He said that in children infection is usually characterized by symptoms such as high fever, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. "If the child already has these symptoms, immediately take him to the health center or hospital. Hepatitis usually attacks children under six years old," he said.
