The Provision Of COVID-19 Vaccines For Children 6-11 Years In Central Bangka Has Not Reached 100 Percent

JAKARTA - The achievement of COVID-19 vaccination for children in Central Bangka, Bangka Belitung Province, has not yet reached 100 percent. The local government targets 24,400 children 6 to 11 years old in Central Bangka to have received the COVID-19 vaccine.

The Central Bangka Health Office noted that the dose of COVID-19 vaccine in their area had reached 88.08 percent.

"To date, 18,850 children have been injected with vaccines, out of the target of 24,400 children or 88.08 percent," said the Head of the Central Bangka Health Service, Dr Anas Maarif in Koba, as quoted by Antara, Monday, May 16.

He also said that until now the vaccination program for various groups in Central Bangka has reached 82.94 percent of the total 153,277 targeted residents.

The local government, he said, continues to intensify massive vaccination programs to remote villages.

According to him, the local government has accelerated the vaccination program to form communal immunity so that community activities can run normally.

"This year we started a vaccination program for children aged 6 to 11 years," he said.

Anas said that in 2022 the vaccination program will be intensified for children aged 6 to 11 years.

"Of course we hope for the support of parents to run a vaccination program among children," he said.
