JAKARTA - The results of a survey conducted by the Indometer Survey Institute show that the electability of the Minister of Defense (Menhan) Prabowo Subianto and the Governor of Central Java Ganjar Pranowo are in tight competition.

"In the last 6 months, Prabowo Subianto and Ganjar Pranowo have competed fiercely at the peak of the electability of presidential candidates," Indometer Executive Director Leonard SB said in a written statement, Sunday, May 15.

Leonard said that Prabowo's electability was 22.5 percent slightly lower than Ganjar's 22.1 percent. Completing the top three is the Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan with an electability of 12.8 percent.

"Prabowo and Ganjar are still competing closely in the presidential candidate market, while Anies is chasing after him," Leonard said.

In addition to the three names, Indometer also displays the electability of other names, namely Ridwan Kamil 8.6 percent and Sandiaga Uno 5.3 percent.

If you look at the trend since July 2020, Ganjar Pranowo's electability tends to increase, even reaching 20 percent in September 2021. Meanwhile, Prabowo has only started moving up and has again outperformed Ganjar since December 2021.

Previously, he said, Prabowo enjoyed high electability as a result of his two presidential elections (pilpres). However, since the COVID-19 pandemic, Ganjar has emerged as a potential challenger.

However, he continued, Ganjar still received obstacles from his own internal party, which was more inclined to favor Puan Maharani. Puan is also predicted to run as a pair with Prabowo, supported by the PDI-P and Gerindra coalition.

"Ganjar must start looking for support from other parties to convert electability into a ticket for the presidential election," he said.

More fully, Indometer also displays the electability of other names that are still circulating in the presidential candidate exchange, namely Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono 4.5 percent, Erick Thohir 4.0 percent, Khofifah Indar Parawansa 3.1 percent, and Tri Rismaharini 2.3 percent. .

Next, Puan Maharani 1.7 percent, followed by Andika Perkasa 1.2 percent, Airlangga Hartarto 1.1 percent, and Mahfud MD 1.0 percent.

The Indometer survey was conducted from 20 to 27 April 2022 on 1,200 respondents in all provinces and was selected at random by multistage random sampling.

Interviews were conducted face-to-face by applying the COVID-19 health protocol. The margin of error for the survey is around 2.98 percent with 95 percent confidence.
