Riau Islands BPBD Urges Residents To Be Aware Of Potential Robbery May 15-19

TANJUNGPINANG - The Riau Islands Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) appealed to the public to be aware of the potential for rob or coastal flooding in the local area from May 15 to 19, 2022.

"The BMKG Hang Nadim Station, Batam, predicts the tidal phenomenon to hit a number of coastal areas in Riau Islands," said Head of BPBD Riau Islands M. Hasbi in Tanjungpinang as reported by Antara, Saturday, May 14.

According to him, the rob can have an impact on disrupting transportation around ports and coasts, community activities, and loading and unloading activities at ports.

If residents find an emergency that requires help, they are asked to immediately contact the nearest disaster management agency.

"People must always be alert and ready to anticipate the impact of high waves and maximum tides of sea water," he said.

Hasbi said that tidal activity and high rainfall can affect the occurrence of tidal waves.

"Keep monitoring the official BMKG information to get the latest weather conditions," he said.

Based on BMKG data, he continued, several areas with the potential for rob to occur for the Coastal City of Batam are Batu Aji District, Sekupang, Nongsa and surrounding areas.

Coastal Tanjungpinang City, including Tanjungpinang Kota, West Tanjungpinang, Bukit Bestari and surrounding areas.

The Bintan Coastal Regency is the District of North Bintan, Teluk Sebong, East Bintan and its surroundings.

Karimun Pesisir Regency in Meral District, Pamak Village and its surroundings.

Anambas Pesisir Regency in Siantan District, East Siantan and its surroundings, and Natuna Regency in East Bunguran District, the coast of Pulau Laut and its surroundings.
