BANGKALAN - KH Fahrillah bin Abdullah Schal, a prominent cleric from Bangkalan Regency on Madura Island, East Java, has died at Siloam Hospital, Surabaya, due to heart disease.

KH Fahrillah is the fourth generation of Bangkalan cleric Staikhona Kholil bin Abd Latif and is the caretaker of the Syaichona Moh Kholil Islamic Boarding School Bangkalan.

The deceased was also the Chairman of the Fakhers Mania Shalawat Jamaat, and the originator of Bangkalan as the City of Remembrance and Prayer.

The body of the deceased was interred in the family cemetery in Pesarean Syaikhona Kholil in Martajesah Village, Bangkalan City District.

Thousands of people from among the students of Islamic boarding schools, relatives and friends escorted the bodies of the deceased.

A number of officials were seen at the funeral home at the Syaichona Moh Kholil Islamic Boarding School, Demangan Village, Bangkalan and also prayed for the deceased's body.
