Police Fail To Smuggle 3 Containers Of Cooking Oil To Timor Leste

KUPANG - The Insana Utara police, North Central Timor Police, NTT, which borders Timor Leste, failed to send three containers of cooking oil to be smuggled into Timor Leste.

"It happened on Friday (13/5) yesterday, and it was found on a ship transiting at Wini Port, which borders Timor Leste," said Head of Public Relations of the NTT Police, AKBP Ariasandy, quoted by Antara, Saturday, May 14.

After coordinating with Wini's customs and excise, the three containers containing cooking oil were known to be sent back to the origin of the cargo, namely in Surabaya, East Java.

It is not yet known when the ship will depart but the return to Surabaya will be carried out waiting for the ship's departure schedule to return to Surabaya.

The process of sending back a number of containers containing cooking oil using a permit from the Minister of Trade Decree No. 22 THN 2022 issued on April 28, 2022, with the type of delivery of snacks.

"It does not close then that there is a game of documents from the Surabaya Customs and PT Maratus for goods that do not match the type of cargo for delivery," he added.

Regarding the type of cooking oil to be smuggled into Timor Leste, he said, the type and size were not known, because the goods had been taken by experts from Atambua Customs and Excise.

Meanwhile, TTU Police Chief AKBP Moh Mukso said the containers of cooking oil were still related to seven containers of cooking oil that the East Java Police had foiled to smuggle at Tanjung Perak Port some time ago.

"Now those who arrived at the Wini port were three units that had previously been sent in advance," he said.

According to him, the investigation process has been handled by the East Java Regional Police.
