MEDAN - Medan City Government, North Sumatra, fully supports the plan to build a United States (US) Consulate office by investing around 250 million US dollars on Jalan Mongonsidi Medan.

"Coordinate directly, if there are obstacles. All of our OPD have been instructed by the Mayor of Medan," said Deputy Mayor of Medan Aulia Rachman as reported by Antara, Friday, May 13.

He emphasized this after receiving a visit from the United States Consulate for Sumatra Gordon Church in Meeting Room I of the Medan Mayor's Office.

In principle, he continued, the construction of the new US Consulate building does not need to be worried about various obstacles, because according to the permission of the Medan City Government, it will help and make things easier.

For information, the US Ambassador to Indonesia Sung Y Kim after the "soft launch" last year said the construction of the new US Consulate office building on Jalan Mongonsidi would take three to four years.

"We also have to go through the licensing process. The mechanism and process of making a building and all kinds of things are carried out. God willing, we will help," explained Aulia.

The deputy mayor also hopes that the US Consulate office in Medan will be able to collaborate for the benefit of future generations in the form of education and the latest science, such as the digital world.

"Currently, Medan needs significant changes. Maybe we can transfer knowledge from the economic, cultural and tourism aspects with the collaboration of one region," explained Aulia.

The US Consul for Sumatra, Gordon Church, appreciated the support of the Medan City Government regarding the process of constructing the new building.

"Thank you for the support, Mr. Deputy Mayor of Medan, we look forward to a pleasant collaboration for the building construction process later," said Gordon.
