Viral Fire Ambulance Shot, Police: There Are Suspicious Movements

JAKARTA - The police reveal the reasons behind the viral ambulance shooting on social media. The ambulance was said to have shown suspicious movements when it was about to be stopped.

Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Yusri Yunus said the shooting was carried out because the ambulance driver was trying to escape. In fact, the officers only wanted to check the contents of the ambulance.

"There is suspicion from the information we have that there is an attempt to take advantage of the situation at that time so that a raid is conducted," Yusri told reporters, Wednesday, October 14.

In fact, said Yusri, while trying to escape, the ambulance almost hit the officer who wanted to check the contents of the car. Here the officers fired tear gas at the car.

"We know there are 4 people in the ambulance and tried to escape by backing off and almost running into officers," he said.

According to Yusri, previously his party had also examined ambulances. So when the ambulance officers wanted to check the second ambulance, he ran away.

"Previously they did not run away and this one escaped," he continued.

As for everyone in the ambulance at this time have been secured. One of them with the initials N was secured at the scene for jumping from an ambulance.

"We found an ambulance and its people at Taman Ismail Marzuki. We secure it now to the Regional Police, who jumped 1 and the rest were 3. So there are 4," he said.

Previously reported, the video of police chasing an ambulance shooting tear gas in Menteng, Central Jakarta, went viral on social media. This location is close to the Tugu Tani which was in chaos after the police beat the crowd from the Horse Statue area.

From the video circulating, it appears that a number of personnel are chasing an ambulance. The sound of tear gas shooting was clear.

The ambulance being chased had walked backwards. After that, this car drove even though it was blocked by the police. The doors on the right and left of the ambulance were visible. The police in front of the ambulance fired tear gas. The ambulance immediately stepped on the gas.
