TEBO - Members of the Tebo Police in a raid and control of illegal gold mining in District VII Kota, Tebo Regency, Jambi Province, burned four equipment that was operating in the plantation area of PT Tebo Multi Agro (TMA).

Tebo Police Chief AKBP Fitria Mega said the control and operation was carried out on the basis of reports from companies whose lands were used by illegal gold miners. The police and companies have often acted but have not had a deterrent effect on the perpetrators.

Previously, the police had also taken action in the Rimbo Bujang sub-district, but now illegal gold mining, which local residents call dompeng, is back in operation.

Fitria explained that when she went to the mining site, the police found a number of gold miners using dompeng rafts in the middle of their activities.

"Knowing that there were police, the perpetrators immediately fled leaving the dompeng raft for fear of being arrested," he explained as quoted by Antara, Friday, May 13.

Feeling furious at the action in the forest area or plantation area, he ordered the Polsek along with his ranks to take immediate action and burn the dompeng raft.

"A total of four rafts were destroyed by burning," he explained.

The destruction of the dompeng raft was carried out to provide a deterrent effect to the perpetrators of illegal gold mining, so that they would no longer repeat their actions.

"We hope that people who find dompeng activity will report it," he said.
