JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo will meet with the Vice President of the United States, Kamala Harris to discuss health issues and maritime cooperation. The meeting was also attended by ASEAN leaders in a follow-up series of activities for the ASEAN-United States Summit, in Washington DC, United States of America, Friday local time.

"Tomorrow, May 13, 2022, the President will attend an invitation to a working lunch with Vice President Harris who will discuss health issues and maritime cooperation," said Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi in a statement broadcast on the Presidential Secretariat's official YouTube channel, Friday 13 May quoted from Antara.

After that, Jokowi will follow the follow-up agenda of the US-ASEAN Summit, namely discussions on climate change which will also be led by Harris. "US Special Envoy for Climate Change John Kerry and several US ministers will also attend," said Marsudi.

Based on the schedule for the ASEAN-US summit on the official website of the United States Ministry of Foreign Affairs, lunch with Harris is scheduled to take place on Friday local time starting at 11.30 or 22.30 WIB.

Meanwhile, the discussion on climate change is scheduled to begin at 13.30 Friday local time or 00.30 Saturday morning WIB, which is also planned to be attended by the United States Secretary of Transportation, Pete Buttigieg, United States Secretary of Energy, Jennifer M Granholm, and the Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). , Michael S Regan.

Apart from climate change, the discussion will also discuss the transformation of clean energy and sustainable infrastructure development.

In the afternoon, Jokowi will then attend the peak event of the ASEAN-United States Summit with the President of the United States, Joe Biden, who had previously been met at a dinner at the White House on Thursday local time (12/5).

Before being accepted and attending a dinner with Biden at the White House, Marsudi described a series of activities that President Jokowi had undertaken in a series of working visits throughout the local Thursday, starting with attending virtually the Global Covid-19 II Summit.

Then on Thursday afternoon Jokowi attended a meeting of ASEAN leaders with CEOs of US companies which was also attended by the United States Trade Minister, Gina Raimondo, the United States Trade Envoy, Katherine Tai, and the United States Special Envoy for Climate Change, John Kerry.

In the meeting themed on ASEAN matters for the US and US matters for ASEAN, Jokowi delivered an honorary speech regarding stable and peaceful economic growth in ASEAN with the region's gross domestic product now reaching US$3.3 trillion, but there are still hard work challenges. to enjoy the global value chain and climb the ladder of progress.
