Ciledug Health Center Sidak Animal Husbandry In Cirebon, Result Is Zero PMK

CIREBON - The Service Technical Implementation Unit (UPTD) of the Ciledug Cirebon Health Center conducted a surprise inspection (sidak) on a number of farms in Gebang District. As a result, none of the livestock contracted mouth and nail disease (PMK).

Medic Veterinary UPTD Puskeswan Ciledug Edi Purnomo said the inspection was carried out with the Cirebon City Resort Police (Polresta).

"Insha Allah, clinically, the animals here (livestock in Gebang District) are safe from PMK and fit for consumption," said Edi in Cirebon, Friday, May 13.

He said that all livestock examined at the Gebang sub-district, Cirebon Regency, were confirmed to be in healthy condition and did not show any signs of contracting FMD.

Because, continued Edi, currently livestock imported from outside the region have also passed an incubation period of 14 days, and their condition is still healthy.

According to him, the clinical symptoms of the current PMK outbreak include fever for 3 to 5 days. Then followed by the appearance of lesions or blisters in the nostril area, tongue, gums and there are wounds on the nails of livestock.

"The livestock here that have just arrived from outside have also almost all passed an incubation period of 14 days," he said.

Edi ensured that the disease was not zoonotic or transmitted to humans and only transmitted between animals.

He admits, although it is only transmitted between animals, the economic loss caused is very large because it can cause a decrease in the weight of livestock, a shrinking population and also a decrease in milk production.

In addition, the disease can only be prevented by vaccination of livestock.

"We urge if there is an outbreak of PMK or symptoms of PMK are found in livestock, please the public immediately report to the Cirebon Regency Agriculture Service and contact the nearest UPTD Puskeswan," he said.

Meanwhile, Kasat Binmas Cirebon Police, Kompol Tri Silayanto, said the inspection was carried out with the UPTD Puskeswan Ciledug, to ensure the health of the animals that would later be consumed by the people of Cirebon Regency.

His party deliberately involved veterinarians from the UPTD Puskeswan Ciledug to ensure the condition of the livestock is healthy and safe for consumption.

"Alhamdulillah, from the results of the examination, all livestock on this farm are in good health and no one has contracted FMD," he said.
