Supreme Court Convicts Three Convicts Of Corruption In Bengkulu Flood Control Guilty

BENGKULU CITY - The panel of judges of the Supreme Court has convicted three perpetrators of corruption in the Bengkulu river flood protection project in 2019, who were previously acquitted at the Bengkulu Tipikor Court.

Assistant for Special Crimes at the Bengkulu High Prosecutor's Office, Pandoe Pramoe Kartika in Bengkulu, Friday, said based on the Supreme Court's decision that the three were legally proven to have violated Article 3 of Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning Eradication of Corruption junto Article 55 paragraph 1 to 1 of the Criminal Code.

The three actors are the Director of CV Utaka Esa, Ibnu Suud, as a supervisory consultant, Hafizon Nazardi as PPTK of the Bengkulu Province Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR), and Isnani Martuti as the implementing contractor and Director of CV Merbin Indah.

"The Supreme Court Judges granted our appeal and we have received a copy of the decision," Pandoe said as quoted by Antara, Friday, May 13.

The Panel of Judges of the Supreme Court also ordered the Public Prosecutor (JPU) to immediately execute the three convicts to be detained in prisons.

According to Ibnu Suud and Hafizon Nazardi, they were sentenced to 2 years and 6 months in prison and a fine of Rp. 300 million subsidiary 6 months in prison. The convict Isnani Martuti was sentenced to 4 years in prison, fined Rp. 1 year and 8 months imprisonment.

Pandoe said that according to the rules, after receiving a copy of the Supreme Court's decision, the Bengkulu Special Prosecutor's Office as the executor in the near future will immediately execute the three convicts and ask them to cooperate. , it does not preclude immediate execution.

The three defendants were previously acquitted by the Bengkulu Tipikor District Court, chaired by judge Fitrizal Yanto. After 14 days of the acquittal, the Bengkulu Public Prosecutor's Office of the Special Prosecutor's Office sent a memorandum of cassation to the Supreme Court and finally on April 5, 2022, changed the verdicts for the three defendants.
