PEKANBARU - Riau Natural Resources Conservation Center (BBKSDA) released two python reticulatus (Malayopython reticulatus) snakes which are more than seven meters long.

Pls. Head of BBKSDA Riau Region II, Hartono, explained that the first snake was found by the community in Simpang Kubu, Kampar Regency while doing activities in the garden.

"After being found, the community then evacuated together and reported it to the Riau BBKSDA," he said, quoted by Antara, Thursday, May 12.

"Judging from its posture, large body and slow movement, it is possible that the snake was eating pigs in the community garden. We have not weighed the snake's weight," said Hartono.

It is estimated that the snake is approximately 20 years old. Because the condition is healthy and the wild nature is still good, the BBKSDA immediately releases it into a conservation area.

In addition, on the same day, the Riau BBKSDA also released python reticulatus which was caught by the community in Bunut District, Pelalawan Regency.

This seven to eight meter long snake was also found in community gardens and far from residential areas.

"Because it was found a bit far from the residents' settlements, its existence is actually still safe. However, because it is located in a garden area, the community is flocking to evacuate it," he concluded.
