Minister Nadiem's Response To Indonesian Talents, Vice President Encourages The Presence Of National Sport Science

JAKARTA - Vice President (Wapres) Ma'ruf Amin emphasized the importance of designing national sports science in order to advance the world of sports in the country, especially in the coaching sector.

This was conveyed by the Vice President at the National Sports Grand Design Implementation Meeting (DBON) at the Vice President's Palace, Jakarta, Thursday 12 May.

"Perhaps this time I asked the Head of BRIN together with others to try to design with the Minister of Education and Culture what kind of sport science would suit us, and of course which type of sport we prioritized, which we ranked. I think that, " said the vice president.

According to the Vice President, it is necessary to design sports science by relevant ministries and institutions so that they can be used to advance national sports talents.

He also mentioned the statement by the Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Mendikbudristek) Nadiem Anwar Makarim about Indonesia having talent but not being honed through coaching.

"Regarding the talent that we have been complaining about, the Minister of Education and Culture said that our talent is not bad, it can even be better than some other countries. The main problem is the problem of coaching, especially teachers," said the Vice President.

The vice president asked the ministry and related parties to increase the number of competitions while ensuring that these competitions are beneficial in producing national sporting achievements.

It was also emphasized that sports achievements must also be fostered in each region by local governments, one of which is by encouraging public enthusiasm for sports.

He asked all relevant ministries/agencies together, redesign, adjust, and coordinate matters related to DBON so that the design of national sports is directed and synchronized.

"Perhaps this is important so that the big design of national sports is in the same direction. We hope that we can achieve the targets we want, becoming a big country can also achieve great achievements in the field of sports," he said.
