JAKARTA - The Traffic Directorate of Polda Metro Jaya has appealed to the public to temporarily avoid the Arjuna Wiwaha Statue area or the Horse Statue, Central Jakarta, because there are ongoing demonstrations from labor elements.

In addition to the mass of workers, today also held a demonstration by elements of students in commemoration of Reformation Day 12 May.

"Today, if you don't really need to avoid the Horse Statue area, look for other roads so there won't be congestion," said Traffic Director of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Pol Sambodo Purnomo Yogo in Jakarta, as reported by Antara, Thursday, May 12.

Monitoring in the Horse Statue area on Thursday afternoon, the police temporarily closed Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat to Harmoni and vice versa.

However, the traffic flow from the direction of Budi Kemuliaan to Thamrin and Medan Merdeka Selatan should still be opened normally and there is no visible traffic density.

Sambodo said the closure of traffic flow on the Medan Merdeka Barat to Harmoni roads was in accordance with the conditions on the ground.

"We'll see, because the last time the students will give their aspirations," said Sambodo.

However, Sambodo said that the Ditlantas Polda Metro Jaya has alerted 300 personnel to oversee the flow of traffic at the demonstration site so that people who are still active around the demonstration site do not get stuck in traffic jams.
