200 Spiritual Pilgrims To Timor Leste Apply For Passports At Atambua Immigration

ATAMBUA - As many as 200 spiritual pilgrims who want to go to Timor Leste apply for passports at the Atambua Immigration Checkpoint (TPI). Passport applications are submitted at the State Border Post (PLBN) Mota'ain, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

"There are about 200 pilgrims consisting of priests and parishioners who have applied for passports to make a pilgrimage to Dili, Timor Leste," said Head of the Immigration Office Class II TPI Atambua KA Halim when contacted from Kupang, Wednesday, May 11.

He explained that the application for travel documents/passports for hundreds of pilgrims was submitted through Father Yoris Samuel Giri for the itinerary scheduled for Saturday, May 21, 2022.

Spiritual pilgrimage activities will be carried out to the Tomb of Father Karl Albrecht Karim Arbie SJ, whose address is Residencia Jesuitas, RUS de Santai Cruz, Taibesse, Chinarate Dili.

The late Karl Albrecht Karim Arbie himself was a person who was instrumental in bringing the Credit Union Movement into Indonesia and developing it in the 1960-1970s era.

"Therefore, the pilgrims will hold a prayer and thanksgiving mass there to celebrate the services of the deceased," he said.

Halim ensured that his party was ready to serve requests for travel documents so that pilgrims could officially cross the border area to support the smooth running of these activities.

He added that his party had communicated with the Immigration leadership of Timor Leste to facilitate the activities of the hundreds of pilgrims. "The Immigration of Timor Leste welcomes it positively and is ready to assist the smooth running of this spiritual pilgrimage," he said.
