PANGANDARAN - The joint SAR team is searching for a tourist from Cilacap, Central Java who was lost in the waves while swimming on the West Coast of Pangandaran, Pangandaran Regency, West Java.

Head of the Operations and Alert Section of the Bandung SAR Office, Supriono said a team and search equipment had been dispatched to look for a tourist named Latipudin (35).

"The Bandung SAR Office dispatched a rescue team from the Pangandaran SAR Alert Unit to carry out the search," he said, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, May 11.

The incident occurred when the victim and his friend were swimming in front of the Pangandaran Sunset Park parking area in the West Coast area, at around 07.00 WIB.

According to Supriono's friend, the victim's confession was that when she swam too far in the middle, she was carried away by the waves and eventually disappeared.

"Based on the testimony of the victim's friend, the victim swam too much and was dragged by the waves, causing the victim to drown," he said.

The joint team that received reports of missing tourists from drowning immediately moved to search for missing victims.

The search, he said, was carried out by walking along the beach, then into the middle of the sea using a local fisherman's boat.

"The joint SAR team has conducted a search by conducting ground sweeps," he said.
