SEMARANG - Grobogan Regency and Semarang City have entered the dry season. The prediction is based on monitoring from the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) of Central Java (Central Java).

"From the results of early monitoring of the latest dry season, the eastern part of Grobogan Regency and Semarang City are entering the dry season," said Central Java BMKG Coordinator Sukasno in a written statement, taken from Antara on Wednesday, May 11.

According to him, in general, the forecast for the start of the dry season in Central Java will be between April and July 2022. As for the current conditions, he continued, there is still a transition from the rainy season to the dry season.

He explained, in the climatic conditions in the first week of May 2022, there was an anomaly in seawater temperature around the island of Java which was quite warm.

Sukasno said that these conditions are sufficient to help the formation of convective clouds that have the potential to form rain.

"The prediction of sea surface temperature conditions around Indonesia and Java Island which tends to be warm until October 2022 will cause the dry season this year to tend to be wet, but not wetter than last year," he said.

He said that the climatological conditions of La Nina, which will last until the period September to November 2022, will help increase rainfall.
