TANGERANG - The government has asked the public to be aware of the mysterious cases of childhood hepatitis that have been detected in Indonesia. Regions are also asked to intervene to take preventive measures.

Responding to the government's recommendation, the Tangerang-Banten City Government carried out socialization of mitigating mysterious childhood hepatitis to hospitals, clinics, and through sub-districts in the area.

"We need a shared responsibility with the community to check their condition if they experience symptoms," said Tangerang Mayor Arief R. Wismansyah when met at the Tangerang District Office, Tuesday 10 May.

Along with the detection of the disease, which generally affects children under the age of 16, the Tangerang City Government is also anticipating the spread of COVID-19 after the long Eid al-Fitr holiday.

"Daily cases of COVID-19 are still under control, although there are still additional cases but the numbers are not significant. Screening is still being carried out by the Health Office, in addition to activating the vaccination program and random 'swabs' (rapid tests)," he said.

The Tangerang City Government encourages the awareness of people who return or come to Tangerang City to voluntarily report their arrival to the apparatus in their respective environments.

"We (the city government) want to build public awareness, right in the area there are RT and RW heads. For further verification, so that there is no need for judicial operations," he said.

The Head of the Tangerang City Health Office, Dr. Dini Anggraeni, added that so far there have been no reports of cases of acute hepatitis in the local area.

However, the Health Office has prepared a report link if the suspected disease is found. Links to incident reports have been prepared for puskesmas and hospitals so that they can carry out handling according to the rules of the Ministry of Health.

"The Health Office continues to communicate and receive regulations from the Ministry of Health regarding this new case. I have also coordinated with my friends from the puskesmas and hospitals, to continue to monitor carefully so that we do not miss out later," he said.
