JAKARTA - Political observer and Director of the Indonesian Civil Society Circle (Lima) Ray Rangkuti predicts four violations that the Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) needs to be aware of, both at the central and regional levels, in the implementation of the 2024 Simultaneous Elections. "There are approximately four (violations) ," Ray said in the Nusantara Cultural House (RKN) podcast entitled "Bawaslu Selection: Answering the Challenges of the 2024 Election", as monitored on the RKN Media YouTube channel in Jakarta, Tuesday, May 10. The four alleged election violations, according to him, were money politics, identity politics, unprofessional state civil apparatus (ASN), and the partiality of the General Election Commission (KPU) on certain parties. Money politics, said Ray, is a violation that always occurs in every election implementation in Indonesia, especially since the 2014 election, the 2019 election. until the 2022 Pilkada. "This is an old disease that does not go away," he added. These violations began to appear in the 2014 election, which then became more and more common in the 2017 DKI Jakarta Pilkada and were still found in the 2019 and 2020 elections.

With regard to unprofessional ASNs, namely siding with certain candidates, Ray assessed that these violations began to occur in the 2020 Regional Head Election. feel afraid of sanctions or punishments given. Meanwhile, regarding the KPU's partiality, he explained that these violations began to occur after a decision by the Constitutional Court (MK) again stipulates that the recommendation for sanctions from the Election Organizing Honorary Council (DKPP) ) against election organizer violations can be brought to justice in the state administrative court (PTUN). After the Constitutional Court's decision, several lawsuits submitted to the Administrative Court mostly won, so the DKPP recommendation is considered not too terrible for the organizers who commit violations. "Therefore, maybe because of this, potential violations within the KPU can occur," he said.
