Fahri Hamzah Recalls The Courage Of The Late Lily Wahid At The DPR: There Is No Day Without Criticism And Supervision From The Government!

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairperson of the Gelora Party Fahri Hamzah mourns the death of Lily Chodidjah Wahid bint KHA Wahid Hasyim. Lily is the younger brother of the 4th President of the Republic of Indonesia Abdurrahman Wahid (Gus Dur).

Lily died at 16.28 WIB at the National Central General Hospital dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo (RSCM) Jakarta.

"Sad news, Mrs. Lily Wahid, Gus Dur's younger brother passed away... Innalillahi wa Inna ilaihi rojiun," said Fahri Hamzah via a tweet on his Twitter, @Fahrihamzah, reported Monday, May 9.

Fahri told the track record of the deceased who had sat in the DPR RI in 2014-2019. According to Fahri, Lily is an activist who once supported the inquiry rights of the Century Bank Scandal.

"As a fellow member of the council during that period, I witnessed the extraordinary activity of Mrs. Lily in exercising her constitutional rights, carrying out her supervisory duties. We both support the right to ask questions about the Century Bank case, tax inquiries and reject fuel increases,"

"Finally, Mrs. Lily is a victim of the political elite who doesn't understand the freedom of @DPR_RI members in their supervisory duties. And she was dismissed as a member of the council because she was considered against the party leadership. Executives always don't like the right of inquiry," Fahri tweeted.

Fahri said the government always pressures party officials to fire or replace members of the council who are critical and very active in investigating irregularities.

"In our system the leadership of political parties is very vulnerable to pressure! And Lily's mother is a woman who is firm in carrying out her supervisory duties for the council. There is not a day without criticism and sharp supervision of the government and she doesn't care whether the government likes it or not because the truth must be told as it is , "

"Farewell Mrs. Lily, our political universe has lost a fighter who is firm in its stance. May Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala accept all charity and struggle, may the family left behind be given patience. Amen YRA," said Fahri.

Quoted from Antara, Lily Wahid's body will be buried in West Covina Blok SH 6/31, Cibubur Tourism City, Bogor. Furthermore, the bodies will be buried at the Tebuireng Islamic Boarding School, Jombang, Tuesday, May 10.
