Tajir Police Case In Kaltara Suspect Of Illegal Gold Mining Begins With Commission III DPR

TANJUNG SELOR - Disclosure of the case that ensnared the wealthy police Brigadier HSB began with the holding of a hearing (RDP) with Commission III of the DPR. This RDP will be held in February 2022 in Tanjung Selor, Bulungan, North Kalimantan (Kaltara).

"At that time there were special questions and concerns from members of the Indonesian House of Representatives regarding illegal mining activities in Sekatak District," said North Kalimantan Police Chief Inspector General Daniel Adityajaya during a press conference at the North Kalimantan Police Headquarters reported by Antara, Monday, May 9.

The Kapolda said that on April 21, 2022, his party was investigating the alleged illegal gold mine located in Sekatak Buji Village.

Furthermore, the Kapolda formed a special joint team from the Ditreskrimsus, Bulungan Police, and Tarakan Police to carry out investigations and investigations.

"From the investigation, it was found that there were illegal gold mining activities at that location," he explained.

Furthermore, on April 30, 2022, a further investigation was carried out in coordination with PT BTM that the location of the mining activity was in the PT BTM concession, Sekatak Buji Village, and the mining activity was declared illegal by HSB.

"On April 30, 2022, five people were arrested, each MI as the coordinator, HS alias ECA as the foreman, M alias MACO as the body keeper, BU as the rental truck driver, and I the rental truck driver," he said.

The police then confiscated evidence in the form of three excavators, two trucks, 4 cyanide drums, 5 immersion carbon.

"From the results of the examination, it was found that the owner of the illegal gold mine was the Police Brigadier HSB and Muliadi alias Adi as the overall coordinator," he said.

On May 1, 2022, a case was held and the status of five people as suspects was increased, namely MI, HS, M, and A alias Adi, and HSB as the owner.

The suspect is suspected of Article 158 in conjunction with Article 160 of Law Number 3 of 2020 concerning Amendments to Law Number 4 of 2009 concerning Mineral and Coal with a penalty of 5 years in prison and a maximum fine of Rp. 100 billion.

"Based on analysis and information that there was a real effort by HSB and ADI to eliminate evidence, HSB was arrested on May 4, 2022 at Juwata Airport, Tarakan," explained the Kapolda.

After HSB's arrest, a search of HSB's house was continued. At his house several documents were found containing illegal activities suspected of used clothes and drugs.

Then investigators coordinated with Customs and Excise and found 17 containers suspected of having the potential to be a means of disguising drug shipments.

"After 3 consecutive days of checking using the K-9 Customs Unit and the East Kalimantan Police, no indications of drugs were found," continued the Regional Police Chief.

Based on the findings of 17 containers, on May 6, 2022, based on a request for sufficient evidence, it has been raised to the investigation stage on the findings of 17 containers that are not in accordance with the manifest, with Article 112 in conjunction with Article 51 paragraph (2) of Law Number 7 of 2014 concerning Trade as amended in Law Number 11 of 2020 concerning Job Creation Article 51 Paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 2 Paragraph (3) letter d Regulation of the Minister of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia Number 18 of 2021 concerning Goods Prohibited from Exporting from Goods Prohibited from Importing, with a penalty of 5 years imprisonment imprisonment, as well as Article 10 of Law No. 8 of 2010 concerning the Prevention and Eradication of the Crime of Money Laundering, with a minimum prison sentence of 5 years and a maximum of 20 years.

"To this day, we have secured 11 speed boats suspected of belonging to HSB which are suspected to be tools or the proceeds of crime. A total of 11 speed boats were found in stages in different places around Liago Island, with the locks and propellers being removed, allegedly deliberately to hinder investigators," he said.

The Kapolda emphasized that the special team he had formed would continue to develop the potential for other criminal acts allegedly committed by HSB and other affiliated parties and even assisted in these crimes, especially members of the North Kalimantan Police.
