JAKARTA - The chairman of the DPR, Puan Maharani, has asked the government and relevant stakeholders to continue to provide the best services for travelers who have not returned from their hometowns.

Even though the peak of the return flow for Eid 2022 has passed, Puan believes that mobility will still occur until the end of this week.

“In various areas, both at ports, airports, and stations, they are still quite crowded. Homecomers who return after the Lebaran holiday period is over must continue to receive optimal service," said Puan in her statement, Monday, May 9.

Puan also reminded toll road managers to pay attention to facilities for travelers. The reason is, until Sunday, May 8 evening, vehicles returning to Jabodetabek on the toll lane were still quite crowded. Moreover, the one-way system on the toll road has been stopped after the peak of backflow last night.

"The needs of the community, including a clean and proper rest area, must be a concern," said Puan.

Puan appreciated the performance of the police, the Ministry of Transportation, the organizers of toll roads, trains, ships, and airplanes who ensured that people could go home comfortably until they returned to their respective homes.

Puan also asked all parties to pay attention to the schemes or scenarios needed for travelers. According to him, the system adopted must prioritize the needs of the community.

"While continuing to ensure that all health protocol facilities are carried out properly so that we can reduce the possibility of an increase in COVID-19 cases after Lebaran homecoming," said Puan.

In addition, Puan also supports the policy of working from home or work from home (WFH) a week after the Eid holiday in order to break down traffic congestion.

"But for ASN or civil servants who work in the public service department, they must continue to work in the office as usual so that services to the community are not disrupted," said Puan.
