Bengkulu Police Ask The Community To Report If They Find Extortion Practices

BENGKULU - The Bengkulu Regional Police (Polda) asked the public to report any illegal levies (extortion) in this area to the nearest police force.

Bengkulu Police Chief Inspector General Pol. Agung Wicaksono through the Head of Public Relations of the Polda Kombes Pol. Sudarno in Bengkulu, Sunday, May 8, said this was done so that illegal extortion in Bengkulu Province decreased.

"If anyone is caught in extortion, please report it to the nearest pospam or police station," said Sudarno.

If it is proven that certain individuals have committed extortion, he said, his party will follow up and provide strict action in accordance with applicable regulations because during the 2022 Eid holiday there are many extortion practices found in tourist objects in Bengkulu Province, such as Pantai Panjang and other tourist objects.

Seeing the large number of people who visit tourist attractions during the long Eid al-Fitr 2022 holiday, he explained, certain elements took advantage of this opportunity.

In particular, illegal parking at tourist objects during the 2022 Eid long holiday, which fixes the price above the provision of Rp. 2,000 for two-wheeled vehicles and Rp. 4,000 for four-wheeled vehicles, he said.

"Currently we have not received reports from the public regarding cases of illegal extortion, but we ask that the public report any findings of extortion," said Sudarno.
