MAGELANG – The number of tourists at Borobudur Temple, Magelang Regency, Central Java, on the 2022 Eid holiday, since Thursday, May 5 has reached 31,089 people. This was conveyed by the General Manager of the Borobudur Temple Tourism Park, Aryono Hendro Malyanto.

Aryono said that a significant increase in visitors occurred starting from the second day of Eid on Tuesday, May 3, reaching 16,537 visitors, while on the first day of Eid, Monday 2 May, visitors were only 6,785 people.

Then on Wednesday, May 4, visitors increased again to 27,332 people and peaked on Thursday, May 5 yesterday, which reached 31,089 people, consisting of 31,050 domestic tourists and 39 foreign tourists.

He said, visitors are now starting to decline. On Friday, May 6, the number of visitors was 21,738 people, and today Saturday, May 7, about 16,000 people.

"My prediction for Sunday (May 8) the number of visitors will also decrease or be the same as today's maximum. Even though the holiday is extended, private and civil servants certainly need preparations to go to work," said Aryono, quoting Antara, Saturday, May 7.

Aryono said, although the peak of tourist visits during the Lebaran holiday this time reached 31,089 people, it was still below the figure during the peak of Lebaran holiday visits, normal conditions in 2019 reached 53,386 people.

"With this visit, for us, as a sign of the start of tourism activities, tourism activities have begun to rise, even though compared to Eid in 2019, the figure is only half. However, compared to the last Christmas and New Year holidays, it has increased quite significantly," he said.

According to him, the continued improvement in the pandemic condition shows positive things for tourism activities in the Borobudur area, this is a sign that tourism is starting to rise again.

He conveyed that yesterday's relaxation of community mobility to access tourist sites has begun, but it has not been as high as normal times because the economic condition is also not stable or has not fully recovered.

"In Borobudur itself, there is also no certainty about going up to the temple, tourists when visiting want to reminisce going up to the monument or temple. Because they can't go up to the temple, some visitors have to turn right and some of them call us to ask about it," he said.
