DENPASAR - Minister of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) Teten Masduki said the G20 delegates in Indonesia would be introduced to Balinese health products for physical fitness.
"We prioritize the 'wellness product' in the G20 because it is one of the domestic advantages and the strength of MSME products to enter the world market," said Teten while visiting the Indonesian Hindu University (Unhi) Denpasar, in Denpasar, Friday, May 6.
In the event entitled "'Wellness Talk', the Future of the Tradition of 'Wellness Bali', he mentioned that efforts to promote traditional Balinese fitness products to the G20 delegates will collaborate with universities and PHRI.
"We have a fairly strong tradition related to fitness, not only in Bali, for example herbal medicine in Java and ingredients from other regions. We have a very rich source of 'wellness product' raw materials sourced from the sea, forests, and products that can be cultivated," he said.

"Unhi has already developed its wellness product, moreover the lontars have supported it. This is a very strong cultural root, so we believe in how to manage a healthier life," he said.
Teten said the promotion of various traditional Balinese health products to the G20 delegation was in line with the trend of the health paradigm in developed countries which was no longer based on curative or treatment based, but more on preventive efforts.
"We have great potential to develop so that Bali no longer relies on tourism," said Teten, who also visited Griya Sehat and planted rare rejasa trees in the Unhi Denpasar Campus yard area.
The experience of using fitness products sourced from local Balinese wisdom, he said, such as spas, herbal or herbal drinks, and herbal medicines could be enjoyed by the delegates, starting from the hotel environment where they were staying.
Meanwhile, Unhi Denpasar Chancellor Prof. Dr. drh I Made Damriyasa added that efforts to promote traditional Balinese health and wellness products at the G20 were a good opportunity to introduce Unhi Denpasar.
"Not only at the national level, including internationally because it is promoted at the G20, it will also lift the Balinese economy, not only in one tourism sector, but also the fitness industry based on local wisdom," he explained.
The products offered by Unhi, he explained, are in the form of herbs (loloh) and herbal medicines based on local wisdom, he said while saying there were at least 20 products that would be produced by "tenants" assisted by Unhi Denpasar.
Not only produced by campus residents, he added. Some of these products are made by Unhi Denpasar Alumni and "tenants" who are guided by the Unhi Denpasar Business Incubator.
