There Is A Saudi Arabian PMI From Sigi Who Has Just Been Able To Return To Indonesia, Even Though He Has Had A Stroke Since 2012

JAKARTA - Women's Solidarity (SP) has succeeded in repatriating Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) from Sigi Regency, Central Sulawesi with the initials R who suffered a stroke and has been unable to return from Saudi Arabia since 2012.

"The PMI was finally able to be repatriated after the family and SP urged the government to provide protection to PMI in the form of a guarantee of returning to their area of origin and asking to be given special treatment because PMI's condition was in a stroke," said Head of SP Palu Fitriani S Pairunan after picking up R. at Mutiara Sis Aljufri Airport Palu, Thursday, May 5, quoted from Antara.

R has been working in the home of a Saudi Arabian citizen since 2010. After two years of work, in 2012, R ran away from his employer's house and since then he has been trying to return to his hometown in Sigi.

But he could not go home because he was involved in a number of problems with his employer. And his employer has reported R's actions to the Saudi Arabian police for running away.

"R can be sent home after the problems he experienced were resolved by the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia (KJRI) Saudi Arabia. The reason he ran away from his employer's house is unknown," he said.

The case, he continued, is a record of why the importance of the Sigi Regency Regional Regulation (Perda) Number 1 concerning the Protection of Migrant Workers in Sigi Regency must be implemented maximally so that PMI women from Sigi Regency receive legal protection from the regional government.

Moreover, women who become PMI who are sent home sick should receive protection after work such as rehabilitation and social reintegration.

"For example, getting treatment and care, entrepreneurship coaching, social guidance and psychosocial counseling, physical guidance and empowerment for migrant workers and their families," he said.
