PUPR Service Opens Floodgates In 3 Sites To Anticipate Floods

TANGERANG - The Public Works Department of Tangerang City, Banten has prepared a scenario to anticipate flooding in residential areas by opening floodgates early at Situ Cipondoh, Situ Gede and Situ Bulakan to prepare for the return of water shipments.

"We have coordinated with the sluice gate officers to open them first in preparation for the return of water shipments," said Head of PUPR Tangerang City, Ruta Ireng Wicaksono in a statement quoted by Antara, Wednesday, May 4.

In addition, the people of Tangerang City are also asked not to hesitate to coordinate with officers regarding conditions in their area.

"Such as flooding, clogged drainage or other things. So that it can be handled immediately by officers from the Tangerang City Government," he said.

Previously, the Tangerang City PUPR Service recorded floods that occurred on Tuesday (3/5), in seven locations with heights ranging from 10-40 centimeters.

The flood locations include Cibodas Park, Polor Candulan Dam, BMR, Petir Village RW 02, Cibodas Housing RW 22, Periuk District, RW 05 Panunggangan Utara and Jalan Thamrin Cikokol.

He said that the current flood took longer to recede due to several things, such as the heavy rain intensity, the flow of water from upstream such as Kali Angka and Kali Sabi.

For example, in RW 02 Kelurahan Petir it took a little longer to recede because the housing surface was the lowest, so the officers lowered two portable pumps for the desludging process.

"Currently the condition has been controlled and handled. We prepare officers and immediately carry out early treatment to completion," said Ruta Ireng Wicaksono.
