JAKARTA - The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) noted that there was a significant increase in the number of passengers using the ferry mode of transportation on D-4 Eid Al-Fitr 2022 or Thursday, yesterday.

Spokesperson for the Ministry of Transportation Adita Irawati said on ferry transportation, the realization of the number of passengers on D-4 in 2022 was 267,862 passengers.

"Passenger movement in the ferry mode has increased very significantly, reaching 382.41 percent," he said in a virtual press conference, Friday, April 29.

Not only ferry transportation, Adita emphasized that the increase in passengers occurred in all modes of transportation on D-4 Lebaran. Based on the monitoring of the movement of homecoming passengers this year, it was carried out at 111 bus terminals, 16 ferry ports, 51 airports, 110 sea ports, and 13 Daop/Divre.

As for the details, for sea transportation, the realization of the number of passengers on D-4 in 2022 was 78,963 passengers, or an increase of 293.6 percent when compared to a normal day of 20,064 passengers.

"In road transportation (bus transportation), the realization of the number of passengers on D-4 in 2022 is 142,391 passengers, or an increase of 126.9 percent when compared to a normal day of 62,760 passengers," he said.

Meanwhile, in rail transportation, the realization of the number of passengers on D-4 in 2022 was 109,341 passengers, or an increase of 126 percent when compared to a normal day of 48,372 passengers.

Meanwhile, in air transportation, the realization of the number of passengers on D-4 in 2022 was 207,700 passengers, or an increase of 97.6 percent when compared to a normal day of 105,101 passengers.

Adita also said that the trend of the number of passenger movements in all modes of transportation from Monday 25 April 2022 (D-7) to Thursday 28 April (D-4) continued to increase. On D-7 the movement was 527,094 passengers, H-6 was 563,033 passengers, D-5 was 682,899 passengers, and yesterday D-4 was 806,257 passengers.

"This data is still temporary and it is predicted that at the peak of going home (28-30 April 2022) the number will continue to increase," he said.

Meanwhile, the cumulative movement of passengers on transportation from D-7 to D-4, said Adita, is the highest on the ferry mode of transportation.

"Passenger movement in the ferry mode of transportation is the highest at 756,987 passengers. With the densest passenger movements in the five ferry ports, namely Merak, Bakauheni, Gilimanuk, Ketapang, and Kayangan," he explained.

Then, air transportation as many as 680,163 passengers. With the busiest departure passenger movements at five airports, namely, Soekarno Hatta, Sultan Hasanuddin (Makassar), Juanda (Surabaya), Sepinggan (Balikpapan), and Ngurah Rai (Bali).

Meanwhile, on road transportation (buses) as many as 487,488 passengers. With the busiest departure passenger movements in the five terminals, namely, Kertonegoro Ngawi, Ir. Soekarno (Klaten), Purboyo (Surabaya), Giwangan (Yogyakarta), and Tamanan (Kediri).

Then, on rail transportation as many as 358,271 passengers. With the densest passenger movements in the five Operational Areas (Daop), namely Daop I Jakarta, Daop II Bandung, Daop III Cirebon, Daop IV Semarang, and Daop IX Jember.

"Sea transportation is 263,432 passengers. With the busiest departure passenger movements in five ports, namely Gilimanuk, Batam, Tanjung Balai Karimun, Tanjung Pinang, and Balikpapan," he explained.

Adita said the total movement of passengers in all modes of transportation from D-7 to D-4 has reached 2,579,283 passengers. This number is still smaller with a comparison of 43.3 percent, when compared to the cumulative passenger movement in the same period in 2019 of 4,551,686 passengers.
