Pulogebang Terminal Manager Ensures Homecoming Buses Are Roadworthy

JAKARTA - The manager of the Pulogebang Integrated Terminal, East Jakarta, ensures that all departing buses carrying homecomers are in roadworthy condition.

"Every bus that will operate, we do a 'ramp check' to ensure the condition of the bus is feasible to operate," said the Head of Sub-Division of Administration for the Pulogebang Integrated Terminal Management Unit, Junaedi at the location, Friday quoted by Antara.

There are 100 buses recorded at the Pulogebang Integrated Terminal which have been checked every day. Especially during the peak of the Lebaran homecoming flow like today, his party can inspect more than 100 buses.

There are two types of checks carried out by officers, namely major and minor. The major consists of checking the engine, tires, brakes, lights and other technical engine parts.

As for the minor, it is only about safety equipment such as inspection of a Light Fire Extinguisher (Apar) to a hammer that breaks glass windows.

If there are findings of the unfitness of the bus, his party will coordinate with the Autobus Company (PO) to repair the damaged parts before leaving.

He hopes that these efforts can reduce the potential for bus accidents when carrying homecomers.

The peak of homecoming departures at the Pulogebang Integrated Terminal, East Jakarta, is expected to occur today.

Junaedi estimates that 3,000 people departed, with the majority going to West Java, Central Java and East Java.

Not to mention the travelers who take part in the free homecoming program organized by the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub). It is estimated that the number of homecomers participating in the program will reach 3,330 using 111 buses.
