JAKARTA – A number of people are willing to queue to exchange money at the Pulo Gebang Terminal, East Jakarta. The long line has been seen since Thursday morning, April 28. They are willing to wait their turn so that they can exchange money with the required nominal value.

"I've been queuing since 06.00 WIB this morning. Previously, I have exchanged money three times at this Terminal, now I am accompanying a friend to exchange money for Eid later," said Sri (54), at the Pulo Gebang Integrated Terminal, Thursday, April 27.

Apart from being close to where he lives, namely Ujung Menteng, according to Sri, money exchange services in public places are easier to access than having to go to the bank.

He admitted that he was used to exchanging money before Lebaran at official exchange facilities because it was faster and easier.

Nurhakim (24), another resident also admitted that the presence of a money exchange service in a public place made it easier for him who had just received the Hari Raya Allowance (THR) to be able to get the appropriate denomination before distributing it to relatives at the moment of Eid.

"Yes, because the THR has just come down, the workplace is also close, so just switch here. It's okay to queue a little, there's no discount or additional fees either. I want to change the IDR 5,000 to IDR 10,000 denominations for my nieces and nephews, " he said.

In line with Nurhakim, Tuti (40) a housewife feels helped by the presence of money exchange services that are facilitated by banks officially in public places.

According to him, in addition to facilitating the presence of this service, it also helps people avoid money exchange services that often provide extra fees.

"I'm late for the nuker, usually two weeks before Eid I've exchanged it at the bank. But because yesterday her husband's THR was late, it's good that there is a service like this near the house. It's good because it's from the bank directly, so there are no discounts or additional fees," said Tuti.

Apart from the people who live near the Pulo Gebang Integrated Terminal, several homecomers were also observed to exchange money before finally returning to their hometowns.

The money exchange service is also accommodated by Bank Indonesia in a program called "Serambi Rupiah Ramadhan" which is intended so that people can get money exchange in small denominations ahead of the celebration of Eid al-Fitr 1443 H.
