JAKARTA - Indonesian President Joko Widodo reminded government officials to focus on increasing the level of domestic components (TKDN) by directing spending on goods and services to the purchase of domestic products.

This was conveyed by the President in his direction at the Opening Ceremony of the 2022 National Development Planning Deliberation at the State Palace, Jakarta, Thursday, April 28.

"I have conveyed it twice. Work is focused on increasing TKDN. This means that capital expenditures and services must be directed to the purchase of domestic products," explained the President as quoted by Antara.

The President reminded the potential for capital expenditures and services at the center to be worth IDR 526 trillion and in the regions IDR 535 trillion.

"This means that the total is Rp. 1,062 trillion, plus SOEs of Rp. 420 trillion. This is a very large number," he said.

The President asked that the large potential not be spent on imported goods so that domestic production can develop or increase.

According to him, all purchases must be directed to domestic products and at the same time prepare national production capacity.

The Head of State asked the government to make policies in favor of import substitution policies that produce domestic needs.

"For example, planting corn. Corn will grow anywhere, why is it still imported. Our soybeans are still imported, even though there are many areas suitable for soybean cultivation," he explained.

On that occasion, the President asked government officials to provide assistance to micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) so that MSMEs would advance to class by meeting global standards.
