President Jokowi's Seven Directions For Facing Global Economic Turbulence

JAKARTA - The President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, conveyed seven directives that can be used as a common guide in dealing with the global economic turmoil which is currently experiencing a slowdown in growth.

"In the face of global economic turmoil, I emphasize several things that we can hold together," said the President at the Opening of the 2022 National Development Planning Deliberation at the State Palace, Jakarta, reported by Antara, Thursday, April 28.

First, the President asked all levels of government to focus on increasing the level of domestic components (TKDN) in which capital expenditures and services should be directed to the purchase of domestic products.

Second, the President wants to accelerate the downstream industry process in the country. The President asked regions that have mining to build "smelters".

Third, the President emphasized that all regions increase the productivity and independence of the food and energy sectors as the two main sectors that are world problems.

Fourth, the President requested that investments that create jobs be increased as much as possible.

Fifth, the President reminded that all planning is made in detail because next year Indonesia will start again with a deficit regulation below 3 percent of GDP.

Sixth, the President asked that strategic agendas to increase human resources (HR) continue, such as accelerating the handling of extreme poverty, reducing stunting rates to increasing access and quality of education.

Seventh, the President asked all levels of government to be prepared regarding the implementation of the elections which will begin in June 2022 and provide budgetary support to ensure smooth implementation.
