BMKG Reminds South Kalimantan People To Beware Of Rain During Homecoming Trips

BANJABARU - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reminded the public to remain alert to the potential for rain and strong winds during the homecoming trip.

"For the South Kalimantan region in the next week, there is still the potential for light to moderate rain in several locations, so travelers should be vigilant and remain careful," said Syamsudin Noor Banjarmasin Meteorological Station Forecaster Staff Fitma Surya Arghani in Banjarbaru as reported by Antara, Wednesday, 27 April.

Based on the current BMKG analysis in South Kalimantan, there is a convergence area (wind meeting) and there is an equatorial kelvin wave that propagates eastward covering the South Kalimantan area.

Then the upper air condition around South Kalimantan which is quite unstable, supported by high humidity, adds to the potential for many clouds.

As a result, a number of these natural factors can potentially produce moderate-intensity rain that can be accompanied by lightning or thunder and strong winds.

"So always monitor the weather forecasts that we provide every day, even at any time when there are changes as an early warning for the public to be aware of," explained Fitma.

Meanwhile, Stakeholder Relations Manager Syamsudin Noor International Airport Banjarmasin Ahmad Zulfian Noor said the weather conditions with high enough rain intensity had not disrupted flight schedules.

"Everything is still running normally, all planes that have been scheduled throughout this Wednesday can fly on time," he explained.
