BANDA ACEH - A joint team from the Directorate of Drug Investigation at the Aceh Police, the NIC Task Force for the Drugs Dittipid at the National Police Headquarters, and the Aceh Customs and Excise thwarted the smuggling of 169 kilograms of methamphetamine in Aceh Besar District.

Director of Narcotics Investigation of the Aceh Police, Kombes Ruddi Setiawan, said the smuggling was allegedly carried out by international networks. Smuggling was carried out in the waters of Rinting Beach, Leupung District, Aceh Besar District.

"After being interrogated, the two admitted that they had just picked up methamphetamine from a large ship. The plan was for the prohibited items to be landed at Riting Beach," he said.

Then the joint team developed the arrest of the two perpetrators. From the development, the joint team arrested seven other actors with different roles.

There was also evidence that was confiscated, namely eight sacks containing 169 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, a motorboat, a pickup truck, and 14 cell phones.

"Based on the results of the analysis, the syndicate is controlled by foreign nationals with the initials Mr. X and RS. Both have DPO status. The joint team is working with international partners to develop cases and look for DPOs," he explained.
