LAMPUNG CENTRAL - The Chief of Presidential Staff of the Republic of Indonesia Moeldoko asked all officers serving the homecoming flow to act quickly and solve solutions in the field in order to be able to maintain the euphoria of travelers ahead of the celebration of Eid al-Fitr 1443 Hijriah.

"Don't let people who are euphoric become irritated because we didn't anticipate the mobility of extraordinary people. This must be our attention, maintain the euphoria of the community. Think in detail what might happen in the field and prepare solutions," said Moeldoko in a coordination meeting which was attended by the Governor of Lampung Arinal Djunaldi and a number of related officials in Bandar Lampung, reported by Antara, Wednesday, April 27.

Moeldoko appreciated the alertness of the regional government, regional police and other stakeholders in maintaining the conduciveness of the 2022 homecoming flow at Merak Banten Port, Lampung Bakauheni Port, and Trans Sumatra Lampung-Palembang Toll Road.

"My visit to Lampung is to ensure readiness for the 2022 homecoming situation. I thank all who have worked hard. This collaborative performance has been very good," said Moeldoko, who was accompanied by Deputy I of the Presidential Staff Office, Febry Calvin Tetelepta.

During a visit to review inter-modal connectivity from the Bakauheni Port to the Trans Sumatra Toll Road, Moeldoko said that all parties must be flexible and responsive in maintaining the homecoming flow in the midst of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic situation.

According to KSP data, the Merak-Bakauheni crossing route is one of the congested homecoming routes that serve around 3 to 5 percent of the estimated total 85 million travelers this year. The increasing trend in the number of passengers and vehicles going to Lampung's Bakauheni port has been observed since April 17. At the start of the 2022 homecoming season, the average number of homecomers at Bakauheni Port reached 40 thousand per day. This figure is an increase from the number of passengers on the Merak - Bakauheni ship, which normally only reaches 12 thousand to 15 thousand per day.

PT. ASDP Indonesia Ferry reports that at least 68 vessels are currently operating on the Merak - Bakauheni crossing. To deal with the homecoming flow, ASDP has added ships with a capacity of 10,000 GRT with a carrying capacity of up to 200 cars.

Meanwhile, several problems, such as the potential accumulation of vehicles on toll roads, have been mitigated through coordination between the Police Traffic Corps, the Toll Road Administration Agency (BPJT) and other related parties.

The Korlantas Polri and the Lampung Regional Police have also opened COVID-19 vaccine outlets at 17 service posts along the 234 km Trans Sumatra Lampung-Palembang Toll Road. This is done to make it easier for people to get a booster dose of COVID-19 vaccine as a requirement for going home.
