JAKARTA - Head of the National Counter-Terrorism Agency (BNPT) Komjen Boy Rafli Amar visited the Formula E Circuit in Ancol, North Jakarta, to analyze the potential threat of terrorism.

"We are providing a feasibility analysis in an effort to make the Formula E racing event free from threats, free from distractions, free from all potential that can hinder the running of this Formula E race," said Boy in a written statement quoted by Antara, Tuesday, April 26.

Boy said the visit was to analyze the security feasibility of the Formula E Circuit from threats and security disturbances, especially those related to criminal acts of terrorism.

"We provide a feasibility analysis in an effort to make the Formula E racing event free from threats, free from distractions, free from all potentials that can hinder the course of this Formula E race," said Boy.

The former Head of the National Police Public Relations Division hopes that the process of completing the construction of the Formula E Circuit can run well without any problems so that it can be used on June 4, 2022.

"God willing, according to the schedule, it can be carried out on June 4. If we see that the process of completing the infrastructure is still ongoing so that we will return after it is completed, we can also review the feasibility of the infrastructure and what security measures must be taken," said Boy.

According to Boy, the BNPT is cooperating with elements of the Police, TNI and all related parties to secure the Formula E Circuit from the threat of terrorism.

Meanwhile, Business Director of PT Jakarta Propertindo (Perseroda) as well as Vice Managing Director of the Jakarta E-Prix 2022 Organization Committee, Gunung Kartiko appreciated BNPT's support in securing the Jakarta Formula E Circuit.

"We have to be more prepared. We have to follow many of his directions. We also ask for support from all parties to make this event a success. And God willing, it will be on June 4, 2022," said Gunung.

Previously, the Head of BNPT also visited the MotoGP circuit arena in Mandalika, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) in March 2022.

The visit is also part of efforts to protect and safeguard against the threat of criminal acts of terrorism.
