Viral Man In Battered Medan Beaten By Mobs, Because Allegedly Trying To Rape

MEDAN - A video showing a man with a battered face sitting limply on the back of a car has gone viral on social media. It was stated that the man had been beaten by the masses for allegedly having attempted rape.

In the video circulating, the man is seen being detained by the police in a car. In the video narration, it is stated that the perpetrator was initially arrested by residents for trying to rape a girl.

"A battered man was beaten by a mob after he attempted to rape a girl in the Sei Agul area, West Medan District, Medan, North Sumatra, Monday, April 25," the video narration reads.

West Medan Police Chief Kompol Ruzi Guzman, when confirmed confirmed the incident. However, for more detailed information, Kompol Ruzi asked reporters to confirm with the Medan Polrestabes PPA Unit.

"Please confirm with the Polrestabes PPA Unit," said Kompol Ruzi to VOI, Tuesday, April 26.

Meanwhile, the Head of Criminal Investigation at the Medan Police, Kompol Teuku Fathir Mustafa, who was confirmed by VOI, said his party had arrested the man.

"The perpetrator has been arrested," said Commissioner Fathir.

However, he has not detailed the chronology of the incident or the identities of the suspect and the victim.
