SUMEDANG - The highway in the Tomo area, Sumedang Regency, West Java, has collapsed. To avoid worsening road conditions, the Sumedang Resort Police diverts the flow of large-vehicle traffic.

"The diversion is also to avoid queues of vehicles," said Sumedang Police Traffic Unit Head AKP Kiki Hartaki when contacted by reporters in Sumedang, Tuesday, April 26.

He said a number of police personnel had been deployed to secure and regulate traffic flow at the location of the collapsed road.

The road, he said, had already been handled by the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) to repair it so that vehicles could pass safely and comfortably. "Currently it is being handled by the PUPR Ministry's Satker," he added, launching Antara.

He conveyed, the type of vehicle that was diverted was a large tonnage of 3 axles and above to avoid traffic jams as well as accidents, especially during the Lebaran homecoming season.

Efforts to regulate the flow of large vehicles, he said, his staff coordinated with the Majalengka Police to turn the large vehicles around. "We are also coordinating with the Majalengka Police to turn large vehicles around," he said.

Regarding two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles, he said, it is still possible to pass the route with caution and vigilance. "Meanwhile, small vehicles such as motorbikes and private cars are still allowed," he said.
