JAKARTA - The Cengkareng Police have identified crime-prone areas at several points in order to prevent the occurrence of criminal acts ahead of the upcoming Eid al-Fitr celebration.

The Head of the Cengkareng Police, Kompol Ardhie Demastyo, said that the increase in patrols was to provide a sense of comfort to the community

"When the economy is difficult and Eid al-Fitr is approaching, sometimes the crime rate increases, so we maximize patrols at locations of vital objects such as gold shops, shopping centers, teller machines, and supermarkets," Kompol Ardhie told reporters, Tuesday, April 25.

According to him, patrols are important because when the economy is difficult, people may act recklessly to commit crimes. Therefore, the Cengkareng Police have intensified the activities of car patrols, motorbike patrols and foot patrols

In addition, the police also cooperate with the community to help maintain security in their respective areas.

"It is very important for us to carry out dialogue and order security and security messages so that residents understand how to protect themselves from criminal acts. We have ordered gold shop owners, apart from having a trellis shop, there needs to be CCTV, there needs to be a security guard," he said.

The police chief also appealed to residents who will be traveling back and forth to pay attention to safety before leaving their homes. Make sure everything is safe and well.

"Use electricity as necessary, recheck gas lines and so on. Report it immediately to neighbors and local security if you are going to go home," he said.
