ACEH - A total of 5,534 prisoners or inmates in Aceh Province received remissions or reduced sentences for Eid 1443 Hijri.

"For this year's Eid, there are 5,534 inmates who receive remission. They are scattered in correctional institutions (prisons) and state detention centers or detention centers in Aceh Province," said Meurah.

Of the 5,534 inmates, 845 of them received a 15-day remission, 3,329 received a one-month remission, 1,054 received a 1.5-month remission, 299 received a two-month remission, and seven prisoners were released after receiving the 2022 Eid remission.

"Of the 5,534 inmates who received the remission, 3,171 drug convicts, 10 corruption convicts, and three human trafficking convicts; the rest were general crimes," he added.

He said that the inmates who received the most remissions were in Lhokseumawe Class IIA Lapas, which amounted to 452 people. Furthermore, he added, there are 426 Class IIA prisons in Banda Aceh and 368 prisoners in Meulaboh Class IIB prisons, Aceh Barat Regency.

Meanwhile, seven prisoners were released after receiving remission from the Meulaboh Class IIB Prison, the Kuala Simpang Class IIB Prison in Aceh Tamiang Regency, and the Blangkejeren Class IIB Prison in Gayo Lues Regency.

"And two inmates of the Langsa Class III Narcotics Prison and the Takengon Class IIB Detention Center in Central Aceh Regency will receive Special Remission II on Eid later," he said.
