Membership Status Of Doctor Terawan, Commander General Andika Perkasa Joins IDI's Decision

JAKARTA - The Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces, General Andika Perkasa, has followed the decision of the Executive Board (PB) of the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI) regarding the membership status of Lt. Gen. Retired. dr. Terawan Agus Putranto.

Andika when meeting with the General Chair of PB IDI, dr. Muhammad Adib Khumaidi said that the TNI respects IDI's internal decisions and rules because it is the law that applies to its members.

"IDI as an institution also has the authority that has been embedded in itself since it was founded, and in my opinion it has also become a law or regulation of its own internally. I respect it, we are participating," said the Commander in Chief of PB IDI, Between, Monday, April 25.

During the meeting, Andika also asked IDI the impact of the permanent dismissal of dr. Defend against the license to practice. Because, dr. Terawan is an expert at the Army Central Hospital (RSPAD) Gatot Subroto, Jakarta.

"What we have to do later, for example, is any decision from IDI, will it affect Dr. Terawan's permit at the RSPAD? As for membership, he is no longer active, but as a doctor who also practices at our hospital, that is also what we will do. follow the rules," said Andika Perkasa.

The results of the 31st IDI congress in Banda Aceh, Aceh, last month decided the permanent dismissal of dr. Terawan as a member. The decision was taken by PB IDI after the management received a recommendation from the IDI Medical Ethics Honorary Council (MKEK).

However, the dismissal has no effect on dr. Terawan, whose current practice permit/SIP is still valid until August 5, 2023.

However, the problem may only arise after the validity period of dr. Terawan finished, considering that to apply for a new permit a doctor requires a recommendation from a professional organization as regulated in Article 38 paragraph (1) point a of Law Number 29 of 2004 concerning Medical Practice.

The recommendation letter is part of the requirements that must be completed by a doctor when applying for a practice permit. Later, the permit will be issued by an authorized health official in the district/city where the applicant practices after considering the completeness of the requirements.
