JAKARTA - National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo appealed to the public to use alternative homecoming routes other than toll roads, such as the north coast and south coast routes.

This was conveyed by the National Police Chief when leading the Call for the 2022 Ketupat Operation Troops at the Monas Square, Jakarta.

"I ask on this occasion that the public can use alternative roads such as the north coast route and the south coast route (pansela) so as to reduce the burden of toll roads," said Sigit, quoted from a written statement by the Police Public Relations Division, Friday, April 22.

The National Police Chief explained that the government, including joint personnel, had prepared the same standard of service as the toll road on the alternative route.

According to Sigit, the Lebaran 2022 homecoming season is a challenge for the government because this momentum has been awaited for more than two years.

Based on a survey by the Ministry of Transportation, the increase in homecoming flows is quite large because around 85 million people are going home for Eid in 2022 using 23 million cars and 17 million motorbikes.

There are also six most homecoming destinations, namely Central Java, West Java, East Java, Jabodetabek, DI Yogyakarta, and Lampung.

The National Police Chief added that the 2022 Ketupat Operation Troops held early to anticipate congestion at the peak of the homecoming flow due to shifts in school holidays, government agencies, and the private sector.

"I advise all personnel to move in the field to carry out improved routine activities," said Sigit.

In Operation Ketupat 2022 as many as 144,392 personnel are involved consisting of 87,880 Polri personnel; 56,512 personnel from related agencies, such as the TNI, BNPB, BMKG, Pertamina, Jasa Raharja, Jasa Marga, Satpol PP, Transportation Service, Health Service, Scouts, and other Kamtibmas partners.
