KPK Calls Its Performance Achievements During The COVID-19 Pandemic Increased

JAKARTA - Acting Spokesperson for the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) for Enforcement, Ali Fikri, said that his institution's performance was not disrupted despite the COVID-19 pandemic. Ali even claimed that there was an increase because a number of adjustments were made to answer the existing challenges.

"During the COVID-19 pandemic, the KPK made adjustments to respond to the various challenges it faced. This resulted in the performance of the KPK, which then increased," said Ali in a written statement quoted on Friday, April 22.

Ali detailed his performance achievements which have increased. One of them, related to the investigation of corruption by the KPK.

Ali said the KPK carried out 114 investigations in 2020 which then increased to 128 investigations in 2021. Furthermore, the KPK also said that there had been an increase in the number of investigations from 91 cases in 2020 to 107 investigations in 2021.

"The number of prosecutions in 2020 is 81, in 2021 it will increase to 122," he said.

Not only that, Ali said the amount of asset recovery has also increased during the COVID-19 pandemic. If in 2020, the number of assets recovered reaches Rp255.8 billion, in 2021 the figure will reach Rp416.9 billion.

KPK emphasized that Ali will continue to work optimally in eradicating corruption. Not only that, the trident strategy of eradicating corruption from prevention, prosecution, to public education will continue to be carried out.

This step, continued Ali, is important because the performance of eradicating corruption cannot only be seen from the enforcement aspect.

"However, how can we encourage the improvement of the governance system as an achievement to prevent corruption and how much can we internalize the attitude of individual and community integrity as an achievement of anti-corruption education," he concluded.
